I have completely neglected my tumblr since I got my grades from Uni; for many reasons really, I have decided that I want to share my subject knowledge and skills with other young budding creatives. I have recently started working in a school as a teaching assistant, working within a variety of subjects, only making me certain that I really want to be in the classroom sharing my passion of art and design. As much as I love my job, I still have to work another job to create some savings to fund my PGCE next year… this is EXHAUSTING to say the least between being in classrooms all day and going on to work in the pub afterwards!!
I’m still loving seeing everyone else’s work popping up on my dash - but also really missing being in a studio! It’ll be worth it though, I am more than sure of that!
So I’ve been mega busy since finishing Uni, moving back home and traveling up and down the country, then getting back to work to earn some pennies.
The past three years have had laughs and tears, from exciting successes to frustrating kiln openings, super long days, mixed with amazing tea breaks with some of the best studio buddies I could ever wish for, but all of the ups and downs have paid off; it’s all been utterly worth it because…
I have officially passed my degree with a First Class Honours :)
It was preview night last night, which was fairly exciting! My wonderful family traveled up to see me and my work, and I could not appreciate them more. We got a little distracted by the vast variety of people wondering about and forgot to get proper pictures so my Dad papped this one on his phone of me.
It’s been a really testing week for one reason or another, unfortunately my family and I lost someone very special to us all; she will missed more than she will ever know.
Setting up the show has been a rollercoaster of its own; may frustrations getting the composition perfect, selecting and deselecting what will and wont show.. i can make the work..but it’s a whole other story when it comes to setting it up!
Well the show opens on Wednesday 6th June and is open until Wednesday 13th June (closed on Sunday) …
Last week we all interviewed to exhibit at New Designers 2012 at the Business Design Centre in Islington, London.
Today I learnt that all the amazing designers who interviewed were all approved to exhibit.
Anyone who wants to see hundreds up innovative, unique new designers in all areas of art and craft from print and embroidery to ceramics, from furniture to jewellery, it would be amazing to see you support us the University of Cumbria (CA34) between the 27th - 30th June!
These are a couple of my amazing friends who will also be there!
Samantha Bateman - Millinery
Michaela Hogg - Printed and Stitched Wallpapers
Nicole Wilde - Printed and Embroidered Textiles
Today I managed to finish the coding for the website and got it all up and running! Check it out!!
